edited about 1 year ago referencing The Lounge Lizards, LP, Album, EGS This release was reviewed in DownBeat magazine (January ) and received 4 1/2 out of 5 stars by Lee Jeske. “Very effective use of space and dissonance the band is tight the tunes are likable and the entire production is clean as a whistle“.

"Aaton" is dedicated to Wells – and it begins with romping drums by Tim Daisy and reeds from Ken Vandermark that almost have a Lounge Lizards vibe – but the tune soon moves into more unusual territory with lots of offbeat electronics from Christof Kurzmann, who also pushes Vandermark too – while bassist Jasper Stadhouders certainly holds.

The Lounge Lizards - The Lounge Lizards () The self-titled debut album from The Lounge Lizards is a demented tongue-in-cheek take on jazz, played with a punk attitude. If you just read the word 'jazz', and have been scared off by the thought of 7 minute drum solos and clichéd love lyrics please don't go; this not your usual jazz band.
  6. Mezikazahn says:
The Lounge Lizards demonstrate a keen yearning for this kind of sonic exploration on their self-titled. A New York six piece founded in by brothers John and Evan Lurie, the Lizards take influence from avant-gardist jazz explorers like Sun Ra, Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman, and John Coltrane.

The Lounge Lizards' debut from is probably their most avant-garde work in comparison to their other records but it's still very accessible. Certainly not as weird as other fusion albums like John Zorn's Naked City/5(11).
